my holistic approach

As a social worker I am a systems practitioner at heart. My approach is informed by my study and practice as a therapist, systems coach, change leader, and spiritual seeker. I believe in the healing power of connection and the importance of being in “right” relationship to our self, others and the world around us. The relationship we have with our own internal system, made of many parts, is where it all begins.

I hold the perspective that we each have many parts, sub-personalities so to speak, that make up the totality of who we are, centered by our core-essence, our inner guide¹. This inner guide is innately curious, compassionate, courageous, creative, and intelligent, containing infinite energy, power, and wisdom to generate healing, transformation, and joy.

Our different parts express themselves through our thoughts, feelings, body sensations and images. They are inside of us and show up in many ways and each one has an important role to play. While there are no “bad” parts, some are very helpful, and others, while having the intention of being helpful, create pain and suffering. These parts due to loss, injuries, wounds, ruptures in attachment, systemic oppression, and trauma end up in extreme roles that act to create internal distress and external difficulties.

My approach in working with clients whether individuals, families, partnerships or teams is to release healing, transformation and joy in the system. This is achieved by acknowledging, listening to, and understanding the parts that are causing distress, and strengthening the capacity of the inner guide to lead all the parts, like a conductor, restoring harmony and balance in the system.

My approach recognizes and honors that within each and every person, lives the capacity to lead from this inner place, to heal oneself, and to experience contentment and joy. As we heal it is essential that our process be witnessed, that we feel deeply heard and validated.
